Samsung announced its second data breach of 2022.

On Sept. 2, 2022, Samsung announced data breach. However, there is lack of specificity on which type of customers are impacted. Initially the breach was discovered in late July 2022.

By August 4 they had determined personal data was exfiltrated from “some of Samsung’s U.S. systems.” (including names, contact and demographic information, dates of birth, and product registration information). The company said that there is no impact on consumer devices; social security and credit card numbers not at risk.

The previous data breach this year, was in March. Samsung said that a source code from its partners was possibly stolen, including confidential data from the US chipmaker Qualcomm that supplies chipsets for Samsung smartphones sold in the country.

DOs:

In general data breach incidents, it is recommended to change your passwords and review your activities that could be impacted due to the incident.
