Malware targets contactless transactions in Point-of-Sales device

Previously, Prilex malware targets point-of-sale device which are used for carrying out transactions at physical stores using cards, UPI etc. Once victim inserts the card it can capture all of the data from the transaction

Nowadays, contactless payments are popular because of the convenience for end-users to pay bills at checkout. Contactless payment generates a unique card number which is valid for only one transaction. Hence, contactless payments will deter the hackers from stealing card data for future frauds.

However, According to the cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, new versions of Prilex will block contactless (near-field communication (NFC)) transactions and force user to insert or swipe card.

In the real world activities, it is your awareness that will protect you. If you see an error like "contactless error" which is blocking you from contactless payments, it is better to pay with cash.
