Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the lunar south pole at 6.03 pm on August 23, 2023 lifting India to a global superpower in space.
The Chandrayaan-3 mission faces several significant challenges to successfully land on the lunar surface like transitioning the spacecraft from a horizontal to a vertical position, a crucial step for landing. Speed reduction is another critical concern, demanding precise control, achieving a circular orbit through complex maneuvers. Learning from the Chandrayaan 2 mission's difficulties and managing risks, including limited communication during landing, adds complexity. Technological innovation, cost management, and handling public and political expectations further contribute to the mission's intricate nature. [1]
It is important to emphasize on ISRO's cybersecurity practices as well which kept away information stealing attempts during the Chandrayaan 2 mission. In the year 2019, ISRO was warned About DTrack Malware during Chandrayaan 2 Mission, but Chandrayaan 2 mission remained unaffected. The attack was believed to be conducted by using DTrack malware, which is associated with the hacker organization Lazarus that is believed to be connected to North Korea. According to Times Of India, cybersecurity firm Kaspersky said that the malware was also detected in other financial institutions and research centers across 18 States of India. The malware was able to infiltrate network systems that don’t have high-security standards and give administrators access to every device connected to the network.
